Press Releases

At today’s 22nd bilateral EU-China Summit, the EU and China have committed to develop economic stimuli that address both the economic and the climate crises. They have also reaffirmed their commitments to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, through closer partnership on climate action and the clean energy transition.

Wendel Trio, Director of Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe said:
“Increased international cooperation and commitment to enhance climate action is particularly vital this year as it is the deadline by which all countries need to pledge new, substantially increased emission reduction targets for 2030 as required by the Paris Agreement. Deepening the EU-China partnership against the climate crisis is an important signal to the world. Now the two blocs must align their 2030 climate pledges with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. Another EU-China summit must take place soon with concrete and bold commitments well before the end of this year to convince other big emitters to do likewise.”
