CAN Europe, EREC and the Coalition for Energy Savings jointly prepared this half-day event to discuss several questions arising in this context:

Wednesday, 16 October 2013 at 09:00 – 14:00

European Parliament – Paul-Henri Spaak (PHS) Building, Room 5B1

Hosted by MEP: Fiona Hall

Following the European Commission's adoption of a Green Paper on "A 2030 framework for climate and energy policies" and the subsequent public consultation, the Commission is preparing more concrete proposals for the 2030 framework scheduled for the end of 2013. Such a framework is an important opportunity to establish mutually reinforcing policies for energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate protection. This in turn will enable the transition to a sustainable energy system and make a meaningful contribution to global climate action.

CAN Europe, EREC and the Coalition for Energy Savings jointly prepared this half-day event to discuss several questions arising in this context:

  •  What are the past successes and failures in realising the specific objectives of the three policies?
  • How can the EU improve synergistic interactions?
  • How can a 2030 package help respond to the challenges of increasing energy costs, constrained public budgets and high unemployment, as well as to the global urgency for climate action?
